About Asia-Pacific Internet Research Alliance (APIRA)

Asia Pacific Internet Research Alliance - APIRA was founded in 2003. It is a spontaneously organized and non-profit organization. It is a regional academic organization and is not subjected to any other organizations.

The aim of the alliance is to enhance communication and comparison in Asia-Pacific region on the Internet information, deepen the research on statistical techniques of the Internet information, facilitate the cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries and regions on the Internet information survey and research, and boost the regional development of the Internet researches.

About Host



The Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) the Apex body of ISPs, set up with a mission to 'Promote Internet & Broadband in India.

ISPAI works closely with Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Department of Information Technology (DIT), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Industry Associations such as FICCI, CII, Assocham etc. and it is our constant endeavor to take up and resolved various issues that affect implementation of the ISP's projects. ISPAI played a vital role in privatization of International Gateways, opening up the Sub-marine Cable Landing Station (OFC), Opening up of Internet Telephony, Reduction in PBG for ISPs. ISPAI was instrumental in setting up the Natoinal Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) India's first neutral Peer Point Which also became Registry for .IN domain and hosts 3 Root Servers. ISPAI encourages and promote the use of Internet and IT enabled services, such as E-commerce, E-governance, Health Care and Distance Learning etc.

ABOUT CO-HOST



The National Internet Exchange of India (www.nixi.in) is the neutral peering point of the ISPs in India. Its main purpose is to facilitate exchange of domestic Internet traffic between the peering ISP members. This enables more efficient use of international bandwidth, and improves the Quality of Services by avoiding multiple international hops and thus reduces latency. NIXI currently has 7 NOCs in Delhi (Noida) Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

NIXI has sponsored three Root Servers in Mumbai ( I Root), Delhi (K Root) and Chennai (F Root) . NIXI also manages .IN ccTLD Registry since 2005. NIXI has booked about 6.73 lakhs .IN domain through its 80 registrars so far.
